THE WALLS OF THIS GARAGE
ARE PAPER THIN
LAST NIGHT I FELT YOU MAKIN' LOVE TO HIM
A HEAVY BURDEN LIFTED FROM MY SOUL
WHEN I LEARNED THAT LOVE WHAT JUST A CHILD OF SMOKE
& WE ARE
INDUSTRIAL ARTS
& WE BEAT
WITH COMBUSTION HEARTS
& BOYS DON'T YOU KNOW,
THAT MUSTANG SALLY'S GHOST -
SHE IS JUST SMOKE?

THE EVER LUSTING YONDER
YAWNS ILLEGIBLE BEYONDER
BEGINNING BARE AND BACK AGAINST
THE WALL ON WHICH YOU FOUND'ER
NOUN IS NEITHER NOUN NOR NOUN
NETHER KNICKED NOR KNOTTED
NEITHER KNOWN NOR KNOCKED AROUND
NEVER NEAR ALLOTTED
HOW WOULD YOU CALL?
A PALE BLACK MOON ARISE
OVER A BLOOD RED SEA
I CROSSED THE MOUNTAIN (BABE)
WHEN IT CAME CRUMBLIN' CROSS TO ME
LET ME SHOW YOU HOW WELL WE USE
EVERY PART OF THE BUFFALO
LET ME SHOW YOU HOW WELL WE KNOW
EVERY PART WE CAN MAKE INTO SMOKE
POLLUTED LIGHT
HOLY GEIST
THE EVER LUSTING YONDER
YAWNS ILLEGIBLE BEYONDER
BEGINNING BARE AND BACK AGAINST
THE WALL ON WHICH YOU FOUND'ER
NOUN IS NEITHER NOUN NOR NOUN
NETHER KNICKED NOR KNOTTED
NEITHER KNOWN NOR KNOCKED AROUND
NEVER NEAR ALLOTTED
HOW WOULD YOU CALL?

LIGHTNIN' CRACKLIN' KNEES
She says, "kid, you're a free modern brother
- a real slick young cock.
Oh, babe, you're in for a riot:
let's get a roll on this rock."
He says, "momma, you drive a hard bargain,
but I''l hold you up yet."
She laughs as she takes the last drag
off of his very first cigarette.
She says, "you've got a wallow to your wit;
you've got a surl to your sense of self."
He touches her hand, and he clenches her hair,
and he kisses the smoke right out of her mouth.
Thunder clappin' cross the floor / rumblin' up my feet.
Loose lips livid swinging hips / lightnin' cracklin' knees.
Mirrors make people feel a bigger room;
they feel the center of more attention.
The mixed drinks make for a soggier tomb:
casket cask of potentions.
Crier-village drunk associated bliss
full-rim-vim, vice, vinegar, and piss.
She took too much too many times,
and now (don't you know?) she's square
with the seedy circle's kicks.
So as I was saying before,
this is a love song:
it's a song about two people
in love and together,
but the dynamic contradiction
that drives the plot forward
is they are not in love with eachother.
See, he is in love with this vision of his mother
he sees in particular women.
And she is in love with for what her father left her:
she is in love with the crack cocaine
- clappin' cross the floor / rumblin' up my feet.
Loose lips livid swinging hips / lightnin' cracklin' knees.
Thunder clappin' cross the floor / rumblin' up my feet.
Loose lips livid swinging hips / lightnin' cracklin' knees.
Let's get a roll on this rock.

Establishing shot of Janice coming through door, tossing keys down and hanging her coat: the camera is at coffee mug level with clear view of the doornob. Janice's partner Rick sits in a tight, dining room, at a table for one and a half. There are no lights on, but an aquarium provides illumination. We notice his eyes are blue like the water. We notice his eyes notice Janice, but we notice nothing in them changes: his eyes say nothing more than that they are the reflection of the aquarium.

STADIUM DRUMS
(You know) my father said the family name means shit-shoveller
(be)cause that's what life is.
(Got your) Commodore
Sixty-Four;
got your older brother's
skating board.
In your younger sister's jeans:
tell me again, how do you fit them things?
With a Six-Six-Six-pack;
(I heard) the bangers brought a six-pack,
and I heard you brought a half ounce
out of every bottle of -
Your mother's at home
chain-smoking,
watching re-runs
of 7th Heaven.
It was the bummer of Ninety-Eight:
they said you had to repeat the grade.

(And) The Stranded Comes
(Oh) The Stranded Comes
Have you ever been to that or there
in the springtime?
Have you ever been to this or here
in your right mind?
Where your name been
comin' from since
where your name been
a while back
when?
(...because that's what life is...)
(Lost your) Commodore
Sixty-Four;
lost your older brother's
skating board.
You're at home with your mother;
you're grounded; watchin' re-runs;
watchin' 7th Heaven.
And it's one of those episodes
where the Reverend makes the mistake
of letting Lucy give the Sermon
(because) all she ever talks about
is how much she loves her own cage.
